And then, I stumbled upon Hapaculture.com, which features a terrific African Recycled Bottle Cap Purse....
And then, last night, I watched the CNN Special, "Planet in Peril"... and all this got me thinking about how unsustainable polymer clay is, and.... well.... I got a little depressed.
But then I remembered that the world is not black & white, and that bit-by-bit I have been working towards making a smaller footprint on this fine planet of ours, and I felt a little better. We are only human, and baby steps may be all we can do. Perhaps, some day, I shall shed this addiction to polymer clay, but until then I shall make efforts in other areas to help heal this world. We do the best we can.
That's some beautiful art, Melanie! I love the book you mentioned, one of my favorites. And Planet in Peril, let's pretend it's all okay. I would just go to pieces if I let myself think about the state our world is in. Excellent post, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim!
ReplyDeleteYeah... when I think about the planet we are leaving our kids, I can only hope that space aliens will arrive soon with clean technology and a way to clean our planet up. Oh, yeah, and they force us all to play nice in the sand box. Lol!
I rationalize my love of polymer by pointing out that almost all paints and artist materials are toxic. And where would the world be without art? I think we need to concentrate on other ways to save the planet, and you certainly do much more than most!
